The news states as: The fiercest hurricane to hit the US in more than a decade came ashore late on Friday about 48 kms northeast of Corpus Christi as a mammoth Category 4 storm with 209km/h winds and it had weakened to a tropical storm travelling at about 70km/h.
Catastrophic rainfall that will continue for days could dump more than 100cms of water, including dangerously flood-prone Houston, the nation’s fourth-largest city.
More than 330,000 residents were without power in the coastal region, and nearly 50cms of rain had fallen in some places.
As per the news story by Accuweather “the disaster is just beginning in certain areas. Parts of Houston, the United States' fourth largest city will be uninhabitable for weeks and possibly months due to water damage, mold, disease-ridden water and all that will follow this 1,000-year flood.”
