When you are searching for a job change, previous relationships with recruiter plays critical role. When engaging recruiters in your job search, realize that they are leading to successful relationship.Recruiters don’t work for the candidate; recruiters represent the employer. The best way to get connected to a recruiter is when they reach out to you.

Build network through linkedin and invite them for connection. Your linkedin profile should be recruiter friendly and very catchy. Network to the recruiter through a mutual friend or colleague. When recruiter approaches you be particular about your location of work you preferred, expected rate, skills you do have. Don't answer blindly you are willing to relocate anywhere, but actually you are not. Check in with recruiters about once every two weeks to stay on their radar, unless you have something to report, such as feedback on an interview you completed or any progress you made your own. A headhunter doesn’t want to be embarrassed calling a company you already have an interview with. Act as your recruiter’s assistant by researching companies and offering a list of ones you consider a strong fit. If a recruiter hasn’t secured you any substantial interview invites after 90 days, ask for a reference to another search professional in your niche. The request might motivate the recruiter to try harder. Headhunters are competitive, admits one recruiter. If you really want to get a recruiter’s attention, give them something they can use, like a connection to a new client. You might have a neighbor who is hiring and needs the help of a recruiter.
